Therapy is a truly unique journey. As a board certified Dance/Movement Therapist and Counselor, I believe in the power of the mind-body connection and seek to help clients understand how their experiences affect their whole system.

Connecting with clients brings me joy and I strive to cater my skill set to meet your specific needs. Often, I invite creativity in to help you heal and grow into a more integrated version of yourself. Movement is a helpful tool to cultivate awareness, but I also recognize that moving and exploring creatively in a therapeutic setting can be challenging. My hope is to help you feel more at home in yourself while finding a soft landing to do the work.

Therapeutic Approach

While I primarily utilize a client-centered approach, my framework is eclectic in hopes of pulling in elements of various theories based on your unique needs. Theories include: dance/movement therapy, elements from other creative arts therapies, mindfulness based techniques, client-centered, CBT, narrative, solution focused, relational-cultural and therapeutic yoga.

Clients

I see a wide range of ages including adults, young adults, and adolescents 14+. For the past 10 years, I have experience working with eating disorders and body image, depression, anxiety, trauma, school anxiety/school refusal, student/collegiate athletes, life transitions, and mindfulness through both talk and movement.

Experience

I received my Masters in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling from Columbia College Chicago in 2015 and my BA, double majoring in Dance Performance and Choreography and Experimental Psychology from the University of South Carolina in 2013. I received my 200hr yoga teacher certification in 2013.

During my second year of graduate studies, I interned at a behavioral health hospital where I facilitated group and individual dance/movement therapy sessions in inpatient, PHP, IOP, and outpatient levels of care with children through adults struggling with depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, self-injury, addictions, and trauma. This training was critical in developing my clinical skills and helped me realize that while I can provide support to the variety of populations the facility had, that is it important for clinicians to find the populations they can best serve.

In September 2024, I completed my 300hr advanced yoga teacher training to become an E-RYT 500. I am currently taking the Foundations course for Yoga Therapy and cannot wait to infuse the knowledge from both of these trainings into my work with clients.

I have now been working as an outpatient therapist for 8 years. I truly love this work and find that the therapeutic relationships built in outpatient therapy promote self-discovery, mind/body/spirit integration, and lasting healing that lays the groundwork for future growth.

For all other insurances I am considered out-of-network and can provide a superbill should you wish to receive reimbursement for our sessions.

I recommend contacting your insurance provider and asking these questions to verify coverage and inquire about out-of-network reimbursement options.

  • Do I need a referral from my primary care physician to a mental health professional?

  • Do I need pre-approval from the insurance company prior to seeing a mental health professional?

  • Do I need to see a mental health professional who is “in-network” or can I choose any qualified professional?

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health care?

  • Is there a deductible that must be met before I am able to receive reimbursement and, if so, how far am I in meeting this for the calendar year?

  • Are there dollar limits, visit limits, or any other limits to my mental health benefits?

  • What is the process to submit for out-of-network benefits?

Dimensions of Movement

Sunday, March 9th from 9a-12p

In this class, you will explore Laban's Dimensional Scale and learn how to incorporate it into your teaching. The session will include an in-depth anatomy exploration of the body's dimensions, as well as techniques for bringing awareness to these dimensions through breath and movement. You will also engage in psycho-education, delving into the psychological associations of each dimension, alongside experiential, embodied learning. Reflection and group discussion will deepen your understanding and integration of these concepts.

The goal of this class is for participants to gain embodied knowledge of the dimensional scale, fostering both personal growth and the ability to effectively integrate this newfound understanding into your teaching practice.

Approved for 3 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Credits

Giving to You Before Gifting to All

Sunday, November 10th from 10a-12p

The holiday season is a polarizing one -- some love and look forward to it while others dread and struggle around it. Wherever you fall in your experience of this time, this is your invitation to take time for yourself ahead of the holiday season.

Join Hannah Bailey, a board certified-dance/movement therapist, licensed clinical professional counselor, and experienced-registered yoga teacher with 10+ years in these fields for a therapeutic embodied experience exploring your body's three-dimensionality through breath, movement, meaning making, and intention-setting, ahead of the holiday season. A beautiful gift of self-care and love -- to you, from you, and for you. This workship aims to support you in creating internal space to better manage all that this season holds uniquely for you.

Please note this is a therapeutic workshop: however, it is not intended to be a replacement for therapy. Due to it being a therapeutic workshop insurance is not accepted.
